The Beautiful Bald Cypress
First, choose a proper place for the bald cypress. If you have swampy lands on your property, plant the cypress near the swamp. It does best in soil that is moist, but not flooded. If you live in an area without swampy lands, the cypress can be planted in the yard, but must be watered on a regular basis until it is established.
Dig a hole three times the width of the root ball and as deep as the root ball. The bald cypress grows in many different soil types so amending the soil is not necessary.
Center the bald cypress in the prepared hole, gently tamping moist soil around the roots.
Maintain the area around the bald cypress so that it is free of grass and other competition, and water the bald cypress often during the first growing season to ensure optimal growth.
